Who is Fifi Lapin?

Have you heard of Fifi Lapin, "the world's most stylish bunny"?  Fifi is certainly the most fashionable animal - illustrated animal, nonetheless - that I have ever seen.  Take a look:

Fifi Lapin (lapin = "rabbit", for all you non-Frenchies) has been around for a couple years, with a blog and Etsy shop where you can buy print of the oh-so-chic bunny.  But with a new book about to be published, appearances in Vogue, AND even the main star of the Topshop show in Tokyo, Fifi is now very, very big:

(Literally).

I am so entranced by Fifi, because it's such a fun idea.  Fashion illustration used to style, rather than as a concept for my design, is my favorite. (Ruben Toledo for Nordstrom is another amazing example!)

Most intriguing of all... who IS Fifi Lapin?  Nobody knows. Well, maybe Vogue and Topshop do, but in the general public, the blogosphere... nothing.

I kind of love it.

Tuesday Tunes

This might be the most stylish video, well... ever.  Shirley Manson, Elijah Wood, GORGEOUS styling... and a little diddy by Zee Avi called "Just You and Me."  I could watch this forever.

(Every time you see Shirley Manson, don't you just want to dye your head red?  I know I do. And I've done it, a couple times, and yet... I'm still not Shirley. Sigh.)

If you like the song, check out Zee Avi's website.  Can you believe she's only 23? I love her voice - it has such a pretty vintage quality to it.

PS: The video is for the Oliver Peoples' Fall 2010 Campaign. As a wearer of glasses, I am a fan.  Enjoy!

Room with a View

Happy Monday!  The baby woke up at 6:30 this morning, so I'm dragging a bit.  I already wanted to climb back in bed, so it didn't really help when my friend Kayla posted this amazing bedroom:

Seriously, if this was your bedroom, would you ever leave? The stone, the fireplace, the VIEW?  Such a nice peaceful place to start out a Monday, isn't it?

Organizing in Style

As I said yesterday, I know I've been a bit absent from the blog lately, but that doesn't mean I have not been busy!  On the contrary, I spent ALL Labor Day weekend organizing by entire house.

Trust me, this is no easy task.  I am what you would call a "pile-builder" (my husband can attest to this, it drives me crazy).  The odd thing is, I am not messy, I am not gross, I am just not neat.  I look at something, put it in a pile to sort later, and move on and forget about it.

I recently realized a lot of the problem is that I didn't have ANY set places for things, and so the pile would grow, waiting for me to figure out how to deal with it.  The other problem I've learned - I simply have too much stuff.  If it couldn't fit in the alloted space and I hadn't used it recently, out it went!

Already I can breathe easier, and feel more free. The kitchen is done, and I cook more. Clean up is faster and easier.  The "junk" drawer is done.  If I need scissors or tape, I know exactly where it goes.

The last thing I learned is, if it's pretty, I will keep it clean.  So beautiful supplies is a must. On that note, I wanted to share some of the pretty office supplies I'm coveting:
Kate Spade stationary.  Big card. Small Party.

A brightly colored binder keeps all of the not-so-fun stuff (like wills) in check.

Jonathon Adler Sticky Notes and Note Cubes add instant pops of color to any office.

The DiVoga black and white collection is super chic.

This Parakeet folder at Sorting with Style reminds you of Anthropologie, doesn't it?

I love the Scandinavian-inspired red and teal pallete of Galison's "Rosehip" Weekly Organizer

These "essey Bin Bins" by Huset are works of art!

Keep your junk drawer in order with this organizer from John Derian for Target

And finally, for the day I FINALLY have a laptop...
A cupcake laptop sleeve. Naturally.

What pretty supplies make your life neat and organized?

Summer Ball

Jordan at O Happy Day just posted the Rasmussen family Summer Ball. Getting decked out with friends and kids on the dance floor = my kind of night!

Alas, I have no backyard, so I will just have to dream...

Halloween Sneak Peek...

Hello friends,

I realize I have been MIA lately, and I apologize.  It's been a killer of a September so far... ants, a RAT (in the kitchen - eeek!), more ants, job hunting... and in truth, as much as I love my blog, I often get in a "adult-style" panic that I spend too much time at it, when in fact, I should be hunting for a new job. The stress of it all has been enough to put me in a blogging funk.  And oooh heavens, people, you should see my Google Reader.  Oy vey.

But Design calls!  Luckily, some of my creativity came back last night.  I thought I would give you all a sneak peek at the Halloween designs I'm working on, because - woohoooo! - it's coming on Halloween (can you believe it? already?).  So...

What do you think? I hope Martha would be proud.

I'll be back with more inspiration tomorrow.  Thanks for hanging in there with me!

Tuesday Tunes

Yes, I'm aware it's Wednesday. Sorry y'all.

But, I swear I'm making it up with this song. To celebrate her return to music, I give you "Everything is Everything" by Lauryn Hill. Quite possibly my favorite song of all time.

And NYC as a record? Get out.
